Ag Invest
Helping farmers and agriculture businesses access affordable financing
For 44 years, Ag Invest has helped Illinois farmers, agribusinesses, and agricultural professionals access affordable financing through participating banks and financial institutions.
Eligible borrowers can use below-market-rate loans to start or expand a farm operation, purchase farmland or equipment, finance construction or improvements, support an operating line of credit, and invest in conventional or sustainable farming practices.
Choose the Ag Invest Financing Option That Fits Your Needs
- Agricultural Operating Loans: Help cover annual and short-term farm expenses such as seed, fertilizer, payroll, transportation, crop insurance, processing, and other eligible operating costs.
- Long-Term Agriculture Loans: Help finance larger, long-term investments such as machinery, equipment, land purchases, building construction, irrigation systems, and business expansion.
Ag Invest Program History
Ag Invest is the nation’s most expansive agricultural deposit program. Since its launch in 1983, the program has supported more than $6 billion in operating and long-term loans.
The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office expanded Ag Invest in 2000 by adding the Long-Term Loan Program to its Operating Line of Credit Loan Program. In 2012, the Treasurer’s Office introduced a fast-track process that reduced approval times for eligible financial institutions from up to 10 business days to 24–48 hours.
